The Brigg Leather & Supply story began in the 1930s as a family-run shoemaking business in Guadalajara, Mexico. Brigg thus captures nearly a century of heritage leather craftsmanship with products made for tough and urban use.
Brigg's bags and leather goods are influenced by the classic romanticism of Los Angeles in the early 1900s, and the company aims to create heirloom-quality goods that can be handed down for many generations. Therefore, when you purchase Brigg, you are purchasing craftsmanship that has been passed down through three generations.
The
Challenge:
To extract three generations of craftsmanship and infuse early 20th-century romanticism in a sleek and contemporary style that appeals to today's adherents of the classic rugged lifestyle.
The
Solution:
The early 20th-century was a pivotal time in our history, this is when leisure activities became more accessible to the masses. What if, in theory, Brigg emerged as the brand of choice for early 20th-century athletes, motorsports enthusiasts, hunters, sportsmen, etc.? This was the precise notion that required investigation, scrutiny, and development. And as product prototypes began to roll out of the shop floor, it was evident that the "Sportsman" aesthetic was right for the brand.
For decades consumers shopped for dry goods by flipping through the classic, all-America, utilitarian catalog. Their eyes feasted on black hand set type, lines and charts, with the occasional handsome hit of color. This became the Brigg formula for all their graphic assets including the main logo. And gee willikers, we all loved it.
As the brand took shape I thoughtfully crafted the photography style to enhance the voice and tone of the brand. This meant that our photography had to be rugged, desaturated and make a meaningful connection with the target audience. Furthermore, the talent, environment, wardrobe had to be in cohesion with the brand statement.
As a result, Brigg became a brand with a simple, elegant and rugged story. It is entwined with the idea that with the right tools, hard work always wins. So when you buy Brigg, you buy the American dream, you buy quality craftsmanship and you buy tradition.
